Last night was Friday Night Sew-In. Go visit Heidi's blog to see what everyone else did last night.
This is my February UFO. My plan was to baste this and maybe quilt between the rows since I hadn't decided how I wanted to quilt the whole thing. While I basted I thought of a few different things I could try. I knew I didn't want to do an all-over meandering free-motion and this quilt is so busy I really struggled trying to decide. I tried a few different ideas on some scraps and finally decided to do random lines all over. I started with a full bobbin and just kept going until it was finished. Then I looked it over and added a few more lines where there was too much empty space and it was done. I also decided to send this to my friend, Mary, in Michigan. Life has been a little crazy for her lately and I think she needs a "just because" quilt. (She also has a red couch in her living room that this quilt would look good with but I remembered that after I decided to give it to her).
Corners seem to be quilted the heaviest.
Blocks in the middle of the quilt have less.

I also did a little knitting. This is the front of a vest for my BIL - I finished the back earlier this week. His 40th birthday is in 2 weeks so I need to hurry and finish it, then mail it to him.
What a neat way to quilt something... I'm going to have to remember this! Thanks for the idea!
