Abilene

Although I wasn't able to get the cardigan done by the end of August, I did finish it the first week of  September. Here it is before blocking and close to the true colour.

Slightly closer view but colour is off.

Close-up of detail at yoke.

Detail on cuff.

We exchanged gifts on my birthday. It shrunk and pilled when I washed it. I'm more than a little disappointed but she still likes it and she's happy that the sleeves fit. Had plenty of yarn leftover. Have already made her a hat that I'm gifting her today at her party. Still have a skein remaining. Not sure what I'm going to do with that yet.

A Knitty Kind of Birthday

Last Wednesday was my birthday. I decided to spend as much time as I could knitting something for myself that day. Tuesday night I cast on a Boneyard Shawl. I've done this pattern twice before but given them away as gifts. I bought 3 skeins of Patons classic wool (on clearance) at JoAnn's or Michael's a couple months ago and have been trying to decide what to do with it since. After my husband gifted me with a patio swing a few days before my birthday, I picked Boneyard shawl so I'd have something to wear outside once the weather cools. The above picture is where I started from Wednesday morning after doing the set-up rows the night before.

Nursing baby and knitting later that morning.

Ahhh! Outside nursing but knitting is out of reach!

Baby sleeping, time for some serious knitting.

Another nap. More knitting.

Uh-oh, baby woke up and put the knitting in his mouth.

Then gave the circular needles a good yank.

Here's where I ended Wednesday night. Made good progress. I've added a bit more since then and am almost done the first skein.

A Non-knitting post

At the end of August we moved one town over. Not much of anything has been accomplished the past few weeks except packing and unpacking boxes and certainly no blogging, These pictures are from the middle of August. My brother and his family came to visit and I gave 3 of his 4 girls their birthday presents. The other daughter got her initial embroidery for her birthday in January.
All 3 together.

Close-up of the "B". Closer to the actual colour than in the first photo.

The other two.

I had also made one for my daughter's birthday in June but forgot to post it here.

And I have been knitting. Here are the broken stitch markers to prove it. Think I need to put these on my Christmas list again, although I really want to try and make my own.

I finished the Abilene cardigan on Friday and hope to get the buttons on and pictures posted this week.
