A Knitty Kind of Birthday

Last Wednesday was my birthday. I decided to spend as much time as I could knitting something for myself that day. Tuesday night I cast on a Boneyard Shawl. I've done this pattern twice before but given them away as gifts. I bought 3 skeins of Patons classic wool (on clearance) at JoAnn's or Michael's a couple months ago and have been trying to decide what to do with it since. After my husband gifted me with a patio swing a few days before my birthday, I picked Boneyard shawl so I'd have something to wear outside once the weather cools. The above picture is where I started from Wednesday morning after doing the set-up rows the night before.

Nursing baby and knitting later that morning.

Ahhh! Outside nursing but knitting is out of reach!

Baby sleeping, time for some serious knitting.

Another nap. More knitting.

Uh-oh, baby woke up and put the knitting in his mouth.

Then gave the circular needles a good yank.

Here's where I ended Wednesday night. Made good progress. I've added a bit more since then and am almost done the first skein.
